Summary

Product & Design Engineer with 13+ years of taking products from the first user interview to production. I own the whole path: research and flows, interface and design system, then the full-stack build in TypeScript, React, Next.js and Node, AI features included, through release and iteration. I work AI-native: coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) take on much of the implementation under my direction, and I pick hosted, open-weight or local LLMs to fit each product's privacy, cost and latency needs. Architecture, product trade-offs, code review and the quality bar stay with me.

Highlights

  • End-to-end product engineering: research, UX and UI, design systems, full-stack TypeScript and the release, in one pair of hands, so nothing is lost in a handoff.
  • AI inside the product: LLM features, agents, retrieval (RAG), tool use and MCP, behind interfaces people can trust, question and overrule.
  • Proven where the stakes are high: regulated trading, digital-asset custody, an agentic AI platform for energy, and client work for Lloyds Banking Group and Sky.

Experience

Product & Design Engineer (AI-native)

Dec 2024 – Present

cMatter, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Design, build and ship the product end to end at an agentic AI platform for building and energy management: research, interface, full-stack code and the AI features inside it.

  • Own the whole loop on every feature: user conversations, flows and interface, then the production build and the release. Nothing waits in a queue between deciding and shipping.
  • Build complete features across the stack in TypeScript: the Next.js and React front end, the APIs and data models behind it, and the integrations that connect them.
  • Designed and built the AI layer people actually use: agent workflows, retrieval and tool use, with interfaces that show the model's reasoning, flag uncertainty and stay easy to overrule.
  • Run an AI-native delivery workflow: coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) take on much of the implementation while I set the architecture and review every change, so a working version of a flow can be in front of users within days.
  • Created the design system the product runs on (tokens, components, motion, empty and error states) and set the standards for architecture, accessibility, performance and testing that every release is held to.

Tech Lead, Staff Front-End Engineer

Jan 2024 – Nov 2024

baraka (YC S21), Dubai, UAE. Frontend lead on a regulated investment and trading platform built in React and TypeScript.

  • Shaped and shipped the trading screens, including order flows, live market data and the failure states that matter most when somebody is committing real money.
  • Held the frontend architecture and UI standards for the team, reviewed what shipped, and reworked rendering wherever the platform felt slower than it looked.

Senior Front-End Engineer

Jun 2022 – Dec 2023

Copper.co, London, UK. Institutional digital asset and custody platform, including ClearLoop and the risk dashboards.

  • Made dense custody and settlement data readable, so institutional desks could take in position and exposure at a glance instead of decoding a table.

Senior Front-End Engineer

May 2021 – May 2022

Cognizant, London, UK. Consultancy role for the client Sky UK on customer-facing web products, inside an agile team.

  • Turned UX and visual design into responsive, accessible builds, and proposed alternatives whenever a layout fell apart against real copy and real data.

Senior Front-End Engineer

Jun 2019 – Apr 2021

Publicis Sapient, London, UK. Consultancy role for clients including Lloyds Banking Group and 10x Banking, across banking and retail.

  • Built the shared ecommerce and banking component libraries in React, TypeScript, Styled Components and Storybook that several project teams then designed and built against.

Senior Front-End Developer

Jan 2018 – May 2019

OMNIA, Dubai, UAE. Agency work, positioned between the design studio and the engineering team.

Front-End Developer & UI/UX Designer

May 2017 – Dec 2017

Lucidya, Saudi Arabia — Remote. Design and frontend in a single role on a distributed team. The first job where I did both, and the reason I still do.

Front-End Developer

Feb 2013 – Apr 2017

Albsugy TG, Freelance — Global. Four years of freelance product work for startups and small businesses around the world.
